The purpose of Community Heights Celebrate Recovery ministry is to fellowship and celebrate God´s healing power in our lives through the "8 Recovery Principles." This experience allows us to "be changed." We open the door by sharing our experiences, strengths and hopes with one another. In addition, we become willing to accept God´s grace in solving our lives´ problems. By working and applying these Biblical principles, we begin to grow spiritually. We become free from our addictive, compulsive and dysfunctional behaviors. This freedom creates peace, serenity, joy and most importantly, a stronger personal relationship with God and others. As we progress through the program we discover our personal, loving and forgiving Higher Power - Jesus Christ, the one and only true Higher Power.
THINGS WE ARE
THINGS WE ARE NOT
What is Celebrate Recovery?
This program is a life-changing Christian lay-ministry, based on the 12-Step process of Alcoholics Anonymous and the 8 Principles of Christ's Sermon on the Mount. This biblical program is designed to help people recover from life's hurts, hang-ups, habits and addictions.
Celebrate Recovery was created by Rick Warren, Senior Pastor, and John Baker, Pastor of Ministries, at Saddleback Church in California in 1991. Thousands of lives have been literally transformed through the work of the Holy Spirit in this program and people have been helped to grow toward full Christlike maturity.
Who is Celebrate Recovery for?
"The Bible clearly states, 'all have sinned.' It is my nature to sin, and it is yours too. None of us is untainted. Because we sin, we've all hurt ourselves, we've all hurt other people, and others have hurt us. This means each of us needs repentance and recovery in order to live our lives the way God intended." -Pastor Rick Warren
Celebrate Recovery is for hurting people and those dealing with addiction throughout our community. Those experiencing any of the following will find help through this program:

Matthew 28:18-20
Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and o f the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end."
The Missions Committee desires to share the good news of Jesus Christ with all people. It is our desire that all will seek out God's will for their lives in this area and they will respond by reaching out to people within our community as well as throughout the world as God calls each person to serve others.
The Missions Committee seeks to encourage our congregation to become involved in missions through prayer, giving, going and sending. Short term mission projects are an excellent way for individuals to get involved. In the past, work teams have been sent to Venezuela, Mexico, New Orleans to help with the Katrina disaster, and other areas. More trips are planned in the future.
Members of the Missions Committee must be approved by the Elder Board. For more info, contact Brian Ness @ 792-0224.

Community Heights Alliance Church - A House of Prayer
My house will be called a house of prayer for all nations. Isaiah 56:7
One of the four things God is now calling us to do as a church body is to increase our commitment to corporate prayer. As Pastor Cory said in his message in April, "If we want to experience God's greatest blessings as a church, we must pray... and we must gather together to pray." This month, there are several ways we can act on that commitment.
Corporate Prayer
Join us every Wednesday at 6:00 a.m., 12:00 noon, or 6:45 p.m. at the Worship Center for an hour of corporate prayer. No two prayer gatherings are quite the same, except that those in attendance are united in praise and worship, and in making our requests known to God. In addition to other needs, we always take time to pray for the spiritual needs of those whose names are written on the note cards in our prayer basket. Did you write someone's name on a card a couple months ago? Come pray for them with us! Uncomfortable praying out loud? No problem - there is never any pressure to pray aloud if it makes you uncomfortable, and you can choose to pray silently along with the others.
Prayer Line
We have a prayer phone ministry that currently calls 65 prayer warriors. We encourage you to join the team that receives these prayer requests and prays for our loved ones. To make your prayer requests, call Bert Doane @ 792-1455 or the church office @ 792-1620.

WELCOME MINISTRY
One of our goals as a church is to reach out and show the love of Christ to those that live in our communities here in Jasper County, many of which are coming in our doors at CHAC. We have 1st time visitors joining us for our Sunday morning services each week. We want to let them know that they matter to us and they matter to God.
One way in which we do this is by delivering cookies to all of our 2nd time visitors. We have a team of people in place that are on a rotation basis to deliver these cookies along with a note welcoming them to our church family. If you are interested in either making cookies or delivering them, please contact Heath & Lana Kellogg @ 791-3051
Responsibilities: Please be at the church 30 minutes before the start of the service. When you arrive, look on the stands beneath the bulletin boards to see the bulletins, children's bulletins, and any handouts that need to be given to those entering the sanctuary. There will also be greeter tags for you to wear.
Greet everyone in a friendly manner. If you suspect they are new, direct them to the Information Center for a free gift. You are the focal point of everyone entering the building. Put on a smile and welcome each and everyone with the love of Christ. Questions, call Caroline Rasmussen @ 791-2228
I
NFORMATION CENTER
Responsibilities: Please be at the Information Center 15 minutes before the start of the service and plan to stay 30 minutes after the service. When you arrive, please look at all the sign-ups, etc. on the counter so you are aware of what is there and can help people. If there is a special sign-up where money is to be taken, there should be someone from the ministry there to handle that.
Tapes, CD's & DVD's are available for purchase and there is a sign-up sheet with prices on it. They should pay at the time of sign-up. They may pick the items up the following week.
Visitor bags are to be given out to first time visitors only (one bag per family). Please place a current newsletter in the bag. Anyone taking a visitor bag, needs to fill out a visitor card (completely please). Make visitors feel welcome and answer any questions they may have. Contact Caroline Rasmussen @ 791-2228
As a church we want to offer hope and encouragement to all that attend our Sunday morning services, from the moment they drive on our campus to the time that they leave. One of the ways in which we desire to make a positive first impression upon people, is through our Parking Lot ministry.
The Parking Lot ministry consists of volunteers who help out in the following ways:
The only requirements to serve in this ministry are that you have a friendly smile and a desire to greet worship service attendees as they enter the church. A valid driver's license is required in order to provide valet parking. If interested in this ministry, please contact Wayne Rose at 641-792-2428, or send an e-mail to parkinglotministry@gmail.com.
Our ushers are there to provide an environment conducive to worship. All ushers report to and are accountable to the head usher. Duties include, assisting people in finding seats for all Sunday services and special services, helping collect tithe and offerings, and assisting people in finding nurseries, children's church, Information Center, restrooms, etc. The only qualifications are a serving heart and a friendly smile!
The purpose statement for small group ministry is "To build community within the body of Christ, by connecting people in small groups (4-10 individuals) for the purposed of winning, building, multiplying and sending. It is our heart's desire that Community Heights Allianace Church become a church of small groups, rather than a church with small groups.
Most groups have a leader couple or individuals as well as apprentices that are being trained in order to multiply the number of groups available. The Lord used the small group ministry of our church to fulfill many ministry needs during 2006. Each group has performed outreaches throughout the year. Most importantly, we see evidence of changing lives as we learn to grow together in community. Small groups are a vital part of the vision of this church body. As our church grows in numbers, the importance of being connected to one another in small groups grows as well. We hope that you will consider being a part of a small group this year.
Please contact Chuck & Vickie Jackson @ 792-7737 if you are interested.
