SOLAR PANEL INFORMATIONAL MEETING - Tuesday, Sept. 14 at 7:00pm in the Gathering Place. Community Heights has been investigating the opportunity to install solar panels on our property on the north side of the building. The purpose is to reduce our electric costs over the next couple decades and utilize solar power for most of our energy needs. The meeting is open to everyone interested, but especially our church membership. A representative from the solar company will be present to answer questions.
FREE COPIES OF THE BOOK GENTLE AND LOWLY – are still available in the welcome center. These books were generously provided by Crossway, a not-for-profit Christian ministry that exists solely for the purpose of proclaiming the gospel through publishing and other means. A study guide is available at crossway.org if you would like to use Gentle and Lowly as a small group or personal Bible study.

Jason Lauterbach would like to recruit a group of men who are willing to serve/help the elderly/disabled/struggling members of our church and the community. PRIME TIME (55+):
KALONA TRIP - Thursday, Oct. 7. Join our 55+ group for a daytrip to Kalona, IA, an Amish community about 88 miles southeast of Newton. The trip will include an Amish home-cooked meal of roast beef and a variety of salads, sides, and desserts, followed by a stop at an Amish bakery. Sign up starting Sunday, Sept. 5 in the foyer and at KALONA TRIP SIGN-UP. If you sign up online, you will also need to pay online. The cost is $18 per person and includes meal, gratuity, and transportation on the church van. We’ll meet in the church parking lot and leave at 10:00 a.m. Deadline for signup is Sunday, Sept. 26. Limited to 40 people.
STAMP MINISTRY - Thank you so much for saving stamps for the National Alliance Stamp Ministry. More than 50 lesson series have been published nationally in 40 different denominations in Spanish speaking countries. The Community Heights Alliance Women have sent several boxes of used stamps to the Stamp Ministry in Fort Myers Florida where they are sold to stamp collectors. The funds raised have gone to spread the Gospel in Spanish by way of radio and print since 1972. If you have stamps to share, carefully leave a trimmed border of 1/4 to 1/3 inch around each stamp and place them in a plastic bag. Please do not use paper clips! Place your plastic bag of stamps in the box that is on the shelf outside of the Church office.
HABITAT FOR HUMANITY - Bruce Showalter from the Newton Housing Development is looking for volunteers to help with the new construction Habitat for Humanity house at 921 N. 4th Ave. W.
